The demand for Abkhazia among Russian tourists increased five-fold

Спрос на Абхазию у российских путешественников вырос в пять раз

The number of summer tours to Abkhazia, the Russian travelers booked by 25 April, grew five times compared with the same period last year. It is reported Turizm.ru with reference to data on the sales of tours travel agents group Travel companies, Business Service (TBS).

It is noted that Abkhazia has occupied the seventh place in the list of the most popular summer destinations. First place in sales of vouchers went to Cyprus, Greece and Russia.

The publication says that this year travelers are four times more likely to use the services of travel agencies when planning trips to Russia (in comparison with year 2015).

Also popular among Russians remain Montenegro, Italy, Bulgaria and Spain.

In addition, TBS noted the recovery of interest in the holiday in Tunisia. Last year, due to a series of terrorist attacks, the demand for trips to this North African country has practically disappeared, but in July 2016 it accounts for about six percent of all vouchers sold.

From 1 April Abkhazia introduced visas for citizens of countries with which it has “not signed an intergovernmental agreement on mutual visa-free trips”. Thus, to enter the territory of Abkhazia without a visa only nationals of Russia, Nicaragua, Tuvalu, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of South Ossetia.
