The cost of democracy in Israel

The Israelis are proud of their democratic system of government. In any other country in the middle East is not just Arab, but a Jew can speak and criticize the government and even call for the dismantling of the Zionist state?

For example, Knesset member Hanin zuabi said at a meeting with activists of the anti-Zionist movement in Bern, the coexistence of a Palestinian state with its capital in Jerusalem and “democratic state of all citizens”, which in any case can not be Jewish and Zionist, is the only way to achieve “freedom and justice”.

I have it is not the joy and pride for Israel, and serious fears for his fate.

With no less pride, the Israelis claim that their country is not a theocracy, Israel is governed by law, developed by the democratically elected Parliament. They confuse a theocracy with clericalism and political power of the clergy.

And as soon as any manipulate the law to achieve certain political goals! Legally bypassed the existing ban on negotiating with terrorists, to sign the Oslo accords. The idea that the law – above all, when guided by the expulsion of the settlers from the Gaza strip.

Present the famous Rabbi URI Amos Shirky said that the implementation of the law at any cost – not a democratic idea.

“This is pure totalitarianism inherent in the respective modes to which each having a conscience, feels disgust”.

Interestingly, URI Shirky found where they say about the excess of democracy, its almost complete absence. URI Shirky had in mind a real democracy, which

“it involves the individual’s right to resist the folly of the system. And if a single turns into a cog in a faceless machine, it is no longer a democracy.”

Yes, every democracy as the alleged power of most people has many disadvantages, arising from the fact that among the citizens, voting is the most educated and intelligent are a minority, which becomes a hostage of the majority, these qualities do not possess. The reason, in my opinion, even more significant drawbacks is the complete irresponsibility of the elected representatives, whether they are ordinary deputies, or heads of state.

No liability for failure to fulfill campaign promises has become a routine, what even stopped talking.

But to get used to the lack of accountability for crimes committed by an elected head of state, much harder. With regard to little Israel we can talk about crimes on a national scale.

For such crimes the last time I would mention the Oslo accords and the dismantling of Jewish settlements in the Gaza strip and Northern Samaria.

Most Israelis believe that the Oslo accords Rabin punished.

Well, first, what happened to him is not a punishment, and extrajudicial punishment.

Secondly, I am convinced that Rabin was not killed by Yigal Amir, and not for the Oslo accords.

Also I believe that Ariel Sharon was punished. But if he was punished for a unilateral disengagement, this punishment was imposed not by a court, which it is.

Crimes committed by leaders of powerful countries can even carry geopolitical or civilizational nature. Crimes such as Arab spring, the Iran nuclear deal, immigration collapse in Europe was made to bypass the inherent democracy of the system of checks of any unilateral decisions.

But when we talk about the shortcomings of democratic governance, we mind – because nothing better exists.

Yes, now does not exist.

But in ancient Israel, the political power was divided between the prophets, priests and judges, that is, people who have reached or endowed with the highest level of spirituality. Today, the lack of spirituality, on the one hand, and the lack of accountability, on the other, leads to the power of the favourites of politicians for whom politics has become a profitable business.

Again, I foresee objections, first and foremost, by the Israelis: here is former President and PM were in Israel prison, and you’re talking about the lack of penalties. Yes, and continue to insist on this, because they suffered the punishment for the actions not connected with the government.

First – for sexual harassment, allegedly took place many years ago that is generally considered nonsense or a vile tool of settling accounts.

Second – for corruption, again long-standing and in other positions, but not the Prime Minister.

Proud of the Israelis as there is no state religion — all existing religions enjoyed complete freedom.

But Israel was created as a Jewish state. That is, not only the state of the Jews — the national composition of the majority of the population, but a Jewish state in spirit. And is still officially considered the Jewish national state, and under attack.

However, among the first heads of States were all secular Jews. For them the unifying factor was a sense of common historical destiny, and not religious ideology. Therefore, they preferred to talk about “the state of the Jews”.

In addition, in terms of Israel unlimited democracy may raise the question on the further existence of the state. But the imposition of control, which can lead to all sorts of dictatorships, too afraid. A significant disadvantage of Israeli democracy is no strict demarcation of areas of systems based practice of law: “the Israeli right”, “English law”, “the Ottoman law”, “Jewish law”.

Huge power in Israel that is not dependent on the Knesset and the government, have a legal adviser to the government and head of the Supreme court that many regarded as a violation of the principle of separation of powers into legislative, Executive and judicial.

Former justice Minister Daniel Friedman, in particular, drew attention to the excessive politicization of the appointments process of judges to the Supreme court, and also pointed out the abnormality of the situation, when any Israeli citizen can directly approach the Supreme court on the most insignificant matter. In the result the Supreme court judges are simply inundated with complaints.

Another drawback is the desire of the Court to law, that is, to the substitution of the Knesset.

The current Minister of justice Ayelet shaked believes that the fear of the Supreme court literally paralyze the members of the Knesset. However, many believe that in a democratic state institution like the Supreme court protects the minority from the unjust decisions of the majority. But the power of the judges in Israel led to an almost complete passivity of the Knesset.

The Supreme Rabbinate, established in 1921, Rabbi Abraham Yitzhak cook, turned from the center of the revival of Jewish spiritual life in the representation of the rabbis to the authorities. Instead of generating a framework for addressing many of the issues from the point of view of the national spiritual priorities in the new conditions of Jewish life in the state, the Supreme Rabbinate produces a total for all rabbis view the issues that need to State.

And the existence in Israel of a fifth column made up of Arabs and bet on cooperation with them left-wing Jews, is to anyone remains a secret?

You can talk about the coincidence of the main Arab goal of eliminating Israel – ideological attitudes of the radical left and the socialists that has led to the formation of the close Alliance between the Arabs and left-wing movements of the West.

So, here’s the reality: Israel is surrounded by hostile countries; in Israel openly operates the fifth column; at the level of international organizations are governed by a powerful Pro-Palestinian lobby in the UN, formed in the mid-70s of the twentieth century the Arab-Soviet bloc in Alliance with third world countries and the Arab-European dialogue.

In these circumstances, Israel’s judicial system demonstrates “the highest standards of democracy.” It is known that not only the judiciary, but also the media, and command of the IDF and the security services, tightly controlled by people with a decidedly left orientation.

But only if Outlook is defined by their behavior? I no longer believe in the thesis “existence determines consciousness”. In fact, people in the Prime of life to retire. What do you want them to do? Live the life of a pensioner, to travel the world? Hardly enough for this attraction even a General’s pension. Another thing — go to lectures at the invitation of numerous left-wing human rights organizations, or to take a paying job in one of these organizations.

Guy Behor in the article “In those days, at this time,” wrote:

“The world is increasingly in need in Israel. It is time for Israel to demand payment. For your assistance in any area Israel should demand strong political charge. It’s time to get rid of the darkness of political correctness, crazy ideas, crazy slogans, like “new middle East”, “painful concessions”, “we need to be smart, not right”, the “demographic threat”, “two States for two peoples”, “world”, “Palestinian state”, “delegitimization”, “Binational state”.

Constrained by the framework of international law, the Israeli authorities allow tourists peacekeepers” to come to Israel and throw stones at the soldiers, thus supporting the Arab bandits. Or African illegal immigrants to hold Sabbath of hatred in the heart of Jerusalem and tel Aviv.

All Jews – not just Israel – would do well to realize that no amount of effort to look the best and liberal will not change their attitude to the Jews from the rest of the world.

Therefore, it is time to get rid of the embedded leftists in Israeli society, the view that Jews are “occupiers of a foreign land”. The result was the persecution of Israel in the UN and the EU. Even the US has accused Israel of “apartheid” and “disproportionate responses”.

And ultra-podsazhivaetsya to kill Jews fanatics, justify the terror the desperation of an occupied people” and compare their own state with Hitler’s Reich.

Israel is not a place for those who do not believe in the right of Jews to Eretz Yisrael.
