The Bank of Latvia is preparing to issue a collector coin dedicated to the porcelain

Numismatists from all over the world waiting for good news, soon the collection will be replenished with a new exhibit. As the portal DELFI, the Bank of Latvia intends to soon release a collector coin dedicated to porcelain and faience workshop Baltars.

Products of workshop, which worked in the 20-ies of the last century, considered to be one of the assets of the Republic of Latvia. Decorative arts produced there, are on the same level with masterpieces of European and world art Deco are one of the reasons for pride of the Latvians in their culture, said the Central Bank.

Coin denominations of 5 euros will be minted with a circulation of 5 thousand copies. It will be made of silver, it depicts a plate of “the Dance”, the author of which was the Roman Suta, one of the founders of the workshop.

Work Baltars created in Riga in 1924, has received wide recognition at the International exhibition of decorative arts in Paris in 1925, one of the Studio painted porcelain plates received a gold medal, another bronze, at the International exhibition in Brussels in 1935, her pottery has received a silver medal. The workshop lasted only a few years, in 1929, it closed due to financial difficulties.
