The lawyer for 49-year-old resident of Leipzig, whose name was not called, said that his client fully intends to admit his guilt and has apologized to all who put in the uncomfortable position of his act.
The writer was arrested on 26 January after the attempted robbery, which he went due to financial difficulties.
Armed with a signal pistol, the writer was in Leipzig Sparkasse Bank branch shortly before closing and demanded money. Not satisfied with it and from the cash register, the man insisted that the employees opened the safe, which took 25 minutes. The robber left the Bank with a 40 thousand Euro, but was detained a few seconds: representatives of law and order was caused by the passerby, who saw the robbery through the window.
