Canadian company BlackBerry has stopped production of the Classic smartphone, which was announced through its official blog. This fact can mean only one thing — the vendor is finally ready to abandon its own software platform, BlackBerry OS in favor of Google’s Android, since BB OS mobile phones there are very few.
In fact, modern models of BlackBerry OS only runs the smartphone Passport, which is focused strictly on the business segment, and by the end of this year under the brand of BlackBerry will be at least three Android-gadget, one of which will get a hardware keyboard. The BlackBerry Classic was presented two years ago and was released in December 2014, that is, it is already obsolete, and the keyboard is now his only advantage. Platform BlackBerry OS 10 installed on it is absolutely not interesting to software developers, so that applications under it not exactly no, but they are very, very few.
BlackBerry has conceded defeat in this area and last year released a smartphone Priv — vertical business slider preloaded with Android OS, the first of its kind.
