The management of the company Skoda has approved the project of developing a small crossover based on the Fabia model, which will be able to compete with the Nissan Juke and Citroen C4 Cactus. This is with reference to the head of the Department of research and development of new Czech brand, Christian Strube reports Auto Express.
The SUV whose name is not yet selected, will appear in 2018. It is expected that the novelty will be built on a shortened modification of the modular platform MQB Volkswagen. According to another version, the crossover will use a significantly upgraded version of the PQ25 chassis underpinning the current generation Fabia.
In “Skoda” noted that the new product will not be “just a raised modification “Fabia””. The model will be much higher, longer and wider, and also acquire a completely different front and rear part of the body.
Small SUV will take the place of on the step below the crossover Yeti’s next generation, which will debut in late 2017. Yeti, in turn, will increase in size compared with the predecessor, to compete with the Nissan Qashqai.
