During the 129th session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which precedes the start of the summer Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, the program of the next Games in 2020 in Tokyo included five new sports.
As the portal InsideTheGames, host of Olympic sports has expanded baseball/softball, karate, surfing, climbing and skateboarding. The decision on their inclusion was unanimous.
The inclusion of these sports will increase the medal programme of the Olympic games-2020 18 sets, in the struggle for which will come 474 sportsman.
New types will complement the Olympic program, not displacing it. In this new batch of competitions will act solely for the Games in Tokyo.
However, discussion on the IGR-2020 program in the existing Olympic sports is ongoing and will be completed by the IOC Executive Board in mid-2017.
According to the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Alexander Zhukov, the Russians among the new sports have a good chance at climbing and karate. These two kinds of sports from five popular in Russia for a long time, so it is not surprising that they have the best chance at medals.
