Shevchenko happy with the result of the match, despite the “fact” of the second half.
The head coach of the national team of Ukraine Andriy Shevchenko shared his emotions after the victory over Finland (1:0) world Cup qualifiers-2018.
According to Shevchenko, he is very happy with the result, but the second half performed the national team of Ukraine was “a bit chaotic”.
“I am very pleased with the result. This is an important victory for us, we finished the year. The year was hard, we have a tough group, but we started with the changes, survived and won the game tonight,” said Shevchenko.
He also noted that in the second half, the field was not given the opportunity to control the ball.
“In the first half, we started to make mistakes, but after the break showed fatigue. There is a positive, didn’t give anything to the opponent to create and special moments at our gate practically were not. The game consists of episodes, and some we gave away the initiative. Most importantly, survived and won the game,” said coach.
Shevchenko believes that the need to pay attention to the opponent, who regrouped in the second half and produced a tall striker.
“They simplified their game was good and they continue through the flanks, so the trainers had to think, but it’s okay,” he says.
Shevchenko also spoke about the reasons that forced him to replace Yevhen Konoplyanka on the 18-year-old Victor Tsygankov at the last meeting.
“Replace Konoplyanka is that he is a little tired, therefore, has released a more recent player. We must congratulate Tsygankova debut, because it is well blended into the game and helped to win this match,” said the coach.
