Seized a police station in Yerevan refused to surrender

In security Service of Armenia (UBA) said that the men who seized the police station in Yerevan, refusing to release the hostages and surrender to authorities. On Monday, July 18, according to RIA Novosti.

Law enforcement agencies are taking “all possible means for peaceful resolution of the situation. “We call on members of the armed groups to refrain from actions that could lead to new victims and serious consequences, and to stop armed resistance. To do this, there is still time and opportunity,” reads the statement of the security services.

On the night of July 18 was released two hostages. “As a result of long negotiations on the night of July 18, managed to free one police officer and the driver of the ambulance,” said the ABS. The message said that the life and health of the remaining hostages of four employees of law enforcement agencies is still under threat.

On Sunday morning, July 17, a group of people armed with assault rifles and pistols, seized the building of the police station in Yerevan, said Deputy head of Armenian police Hunan Poghosyan. During the attack, was killed by Colonel Arthur Vanoyan, sustained gunshot wounds Lieutenant Aram Hovhannisian and Hrachya Costigan and warrant officer Gagik Mkrtchyan. The invaders (none of them wounded) is being held hostage by the law enforcement officers, including Deputy chief of Yerevan police Valery Osipyan.

After the attack on the police station in Yerevan was arrested about 200 opposition supporters, 50 of them were later released.
