As a weapon of war hits the civilian market

In the civilian market have drawn more than a dozen models of weapons, converted from real combat samples, including those used in world war II. The latest novelty — “ograzhdenie” submachine gun of the Wehrmacht MP-38. However, legislators believe that we need to ban Russians to own “military” weapons.

In late March, fans of historical weapons for a surprise: appeared in the sale of the civil version of the German submachine gun of WWII MP-38 — it’s called “hunting rifle MA-МР38 caliber 9X19 “Parabellum””. Weapons manufactured in the Ukraine, but, according to sellers, is composed almost entirely of German original components of the great Patriotic war, but a modern barrel, made by Ukrainian gun runners. In Russia the carbine comes-to-order distributor of civilian firearms, LLC “Hammer ARMZ” (the town of Vyatskie Polyany, Kirov oblast). The cost of the German-Ukrainian products exceeds 400 thousand roubles.

Selling to a civilian market outdated military samples is widely practiced in the world, this is a good way to unload warehouses and to receive the income from what was supposed to be sent to the scrap. Of course, we are not talking about mortars and guns, and easy “strelkovka”. So, the famous American importer of arms Century International Arms rose to that cheap (sometimes for scrap) bought up the old rifles and assault rifles in third world countries, and then, after bringing them into order and refined, sold to hunters and collectors from the USA and Europe.

In Russia for several years in civil turnover comes the legendary weapon of the great Patriotic war: SVT rifles, submachine guns submachine guns Degtyarev sample of 1927, and even mounted “maxims”.

The first weapons of war available to our hunters, became Mosin’s rifle, model 1891 (the famous “three-line”). Its modifications were limited to the withdrawal of the bayonet, as well as the installation of forensic marks in the chamber (and later a special pin in the barrel) — if necessary, they should help to identify the weapon. Pretty powerful cartridge 7,62x54r mm did the “three-line” is quite suitable for hunting almost any game that lived on the territory of the USSR/Russia.

And since 1920 from worn or defective trehlineek began to make so-called polovci — under shotguns smoothbore bullets of small caliber.

Prior to the sanctions, the Mosin rifle was widely exported abroad. One of the largest American gun online stores Bud’s Gun Shop called “three-line” sales leader on the market of civilian weapons in the United States at the end of 2012. Followed by the Mosin rifle from military warehouses on the Russian civilian market were carbine Simonov (SKS) and Tokarev rifle (SVT).

The only “grajdanina” foreign car for a long time was the Mauser 98k rifle — the basic weapon of the Wehrmacht. However, special love hunters trophy Mauser is not earned. Original cartridge 7,92х57 millimeters was rare and expensive, and the condition of the weapons often left much to be desired. But such rifles were popular among the lovers of historic weapons and collectors — the cost 98k on the secondary market is now about 50 thousand rubles.

In the early 2000s, captured Mauser tried to modernize: Tula arms plant was installed on the new trunks of 7.62 mm under one of the most popular hunting ammunition — 308 Winchester (the civilian version of the cartridge 7,62×51 NATO). The weapon was called “a hunting rifle KO-98”. The experiment, judging by the reviews of the hunters, was not too successful — the quality of new barrels is satisfactory, overall, the rifle lost to modern samples. Even the low price — about 10 thousand rubles at the time of occurrence is not done TO-98 bestseller.

Hunting gun and hunting gun

Rework of military weapons has increased dramatically since 2012. First, “Hammer ARMZ” introduced a new hunting rifle SVT-On on the basis of automatic rifle Tokarev (AVT-40). Its on order from factory produced them. V. A. Degtyareva (Zid). SVT-Oh was converted from rifles in 1944, to the front, this weapon has not got, which has a positive impact on the quality of the trunks.

In 2013, the Vyatsko-Polyansky plant “Molot” and Zid has announced the release of self-loading rifles machine guns PPSH, respectively VPO-135 and PCA-O. Both samples were made in the original “military” caliber 7,62х25 millimeters — the same one was used in TT pistol.

In civil cases, the “daddy” (the nickname PCA received during the war) translator fire is welded in the “single fire” and the trigger mechanism (USM) was impossible to replace the original screw mount USM pads welded to the receiver. In the disk store, set the pin, not allowing to charge more than 10 rounds, plus, at the request of CSIS, the mirror shutter is made hollow, leaving a mark on the sleeve, and the trunk is welded a pin to mark the bullet.

The weapon was relatively inexpensive — about 20 thousand rubles, what can be said about ammunition. Pistol cartridges of caliber 7,62х25 millimeters produces just a couple of plants: the domestic version of the company’s “Techkrim” costs about 25 rubles apiece, and the cartridge Partizan Serbian stamps — more than 50 rubles. For comparison: cheap pistol cartridges caliber 9 to 19 “Parabellum” are about 8 rubles. This is probably why in 2014, Zid has released the PCA-Luger — semi-automatic carbine chambered for 9×19 “Parabellum”. Visually from the first two PCA-Luger is slightly longer barrel.

Much less than the PCA, is found in selling a civilian version of a machine pistol Degtyarev MA-PPD-40 chambered for 7,62х25. The price of weapons — about 300 thousand rubles.

In the same 2014 there was a civil version of the machine gun Degtyarev sample 1927 — DP-27. In civilian life he became known as the DP-ON, it also produces Zid for “Hammer ARMZ”. The weapons are designed only for a single fire, the drive capacity limited to ten rounds in the barrel pin installed, the mirror shutter is made undercut. Since Russian law “On weapons” no phrases “historical rifle”, “ograzhdenie” “Degtyarev” is positioned as “self-loading hunting carbine”. The weight of the rifle more than 10 kilograms, the cost is about 70 thousand rubles.

And the Maxim machine gun (usually 1930-1940 years of release), modified for the civilian market, in 2014, went on sale under the enigmatic title “gunshot long-barreled hunting weapon with a rifled barrel “Maxim”. The device’s weight exceeds 60 pounds, the price ranged from 250 thousand to 400 thousand rubles. The most expensive models were made in the pre-revolutionary press.

However, the main exotic Russian arms market are “foreign cars” WWII — boxed samples of weapons, at a price approaching to the value of the car. So it was “grajdanin” a small number of German machine guns MG-34 with captured stocks — they broke up, not even once in the free market.

A few years ago on the discussion forums was announced “ograzhdenie” versions of the submachine guns Thompson (USA) — they were supposed to be imported from Germany. In gun shops they appeared, but in the private collections of some of their number may have been. But some on the shelves of gun shops in 2013 were exhibited “ograzhdenie” sturmgewehr German StG 44 worth more than 750 thousand rubles. Among experts there is still no consensus on whether it is original designs imported from Germany “remake” or a compilation of original and modern parts.

Die-hard or lobbying?

Not so long ago, “ograzhdenie” weapons attracted the attention of legislators. In early April the Chairman of the Duma Committee for security and combating corruption Irina Yarovaya and Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Victor Ozerov has introduced a bill, which, in particular, prohibits the “production of civilian and service weapons from the fighting manual small arms, including those removed from service”.

The document has already caused a lot of buzz among gun owners, because most of rifle range of the largest Russian manufacturers — concern “Kalashnikov” and JSC “Molot-Guns” is the carabiners at the base of the machine and the Kalashnikov machine gun (mark “saiga” and “Vepr”), as well as models based on the Dragunov sniper rifle (carbines “Tiger”).

However, respondents ‘ Ribbon.<url>” experts believe that the wording “production of civilian and service weapons of combat”, likely for “grajdanina” the military sample, and not modern weapons on military platforms. From the point of view of public safety, this initiative seems pointless, because the historical weapons, as a rule, inferior to modern performance. To adapt automatic fire modern rifle based on the AK (for example, “boar” JUICE-94) and “ograzhdenie” AKM (Vepr KM”), about the same necessary locksmith skills. Any criminal use of unaffordable and expensive maxima generally pointless. “A person with such means simply somewhere on the border with Donbas to buy a real gun, which will not stand on the account in police and which is not necessary to change” — ironically weapons expert Maxim Popenker.

It is not excluded that the proposed amendments are a clumsy attempt to protect the interests of companies producing new weapons, structurally similar to the alterations. Today the market is very popular “ograzhdenie AK-47, AKM and AKMS — their releases ITS “Hammer”. Charisma, a relatively small price (20-30 thousand) and the faith of many Russians in the Soviet military acceptance do “ograzhdenie” Kalash, the bestsellers among fans of the rifle (there’s even a chip: the future owner civil AKM selects the trunk for the year of his birth). And given that the cost of “grajdanina” machines on the order below the cost of production of new weapons, the popularity of the alterations can really affect the interests of some of the market players.

“I think it’s obvious lobbying of certain circles of our arms companies that want to market sold more new weapons, which other margins,” said the Tape.ru” the chief editor of the magazine “Kalashnikov” Mikhail Degtyarev.

On the Russian arms market already there were cases when the interests of some manufacturers defended themselves by imposing prohibitions for competition (for example, a ban on the import of the traumatic weapon). However, experts familiar with the situation, I hope that this time the interests of leading manufacturers will be defended not through the introduction of new prohibitions, but through the expansion of the market. That is, instead of tightening the screws should expect a slight liberalization of guns laws. Progress may be on the amount of trunks that a citizen may simultaneously own (now five units), as well as a five-year moratorium on the purchase of rifles.
