Scientists have found a new way to fight HIV

Ученые нашли новый способ борьбы с ВИЧFound a way of dealing with HIV at the genetic level.

A group of molecular biologists under the leadership of Khalili camel (Kamel Khalili) with Templestowe University, using the technology of gene editing CRISPR/Cas9 for the first time have been able to carve out a segment of DNA that belonged to HIV. The experiment was carried out on the genomes of living animals.

Previously, scientists demonstrated that the system is CRISP/Cas9 has the ability to remove genes of the virus integrated in the host cells without any negative impact on the latter. But then the experiments were carried out on culture cells taken from the patient HIV patient still had no evidence that such a method would work in vivo.

And during the recent work, the researchers tested whether they have created technology to eliminate HIV from the body transgenic rats and mice.

Two weeks after the beginning of this experiment, the researchers studied the genomes of animals. It turned out that the HIV segment was removed from the DNA of every tissue, including brain, kidney, liver, lung, spleen and blood cells.
