Russian Alexander Lesun won the gold medal at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro in the modern pentathlon.
28-year-old athlete scored 1479 points and set an Olympic record. The silver medal was won by the Ukrainian Paul Tymoshenko (1472 points), the bronze went to the Frenchman Valentin Prado (1468 points).
This gold award was for the Russian team fourth in the penultimate day of the Games and 17th at the Olympics. All the assets of Russians 53 medals — 17 gold, 17 silver and 19 bronze.
Previously, the gold the Russian team brought domestic players, gymnast Margarita Mamun and the wrestler of freestyle Abdulrashid saduev. The silver medal was won by the gymnast Yana Kudryavtseva.
Games in Rio de Janeiro and will last until 21 August.
