Russia was deprived of the gold in Beijing

The Russian national team in athletics was stripped of the gold medal of the Olympic games 2008 in Beijing in the women’s 4x100m relay, the official website of the IOC. The results of the inspection in the doping trial of Yulia Chermoshanskaya found two banned substances — stanozolol and dehydrochlormethyltestosterone (turinabol).

At the Games in Beijing Evgeniya Polyakova, Aleksandra Fedoriva, Yulia Gushchina and Yuliya Chermoshanskaya showed the best time in the final race (42,31 seconds). The second was the Belgian team, composed of Olivia Borle, Hannah Marien, Elodie Ouedraogo and Kim Gawart (42,54). Bronze was won by niharika ene Franca Idoko, Gloria Kamuswaga, khalimat Ismail and Oludamola, Osayomi (43,04). Team Jamaica, which ran the prize-winners of Games-2008 in Beijing Shelly-Ann Fraser, Sharon Simpson, Kerron Stewart and Veronica Campbell, showed the best time in the semifinals, but in the final race made a mistake when transferring the baton and failed to finish.

After losing to the Russian team gold medal in the Olympic program, the awards will be given to the Belgium. The silver will give the Nigeria national team bronze — team of Brazil.

In late July, the IOC announced that the result of the second wave rechecking doping tests a positive result was given 30 samples taken at the Olympics in Beijing in 2008, and 15 samples, which were taken four years later in London. According to the Times, some of them belong to Russian athletes.

In 2015, WADA has announced the re-examination of samples of the participants of the Olympics in 2008 and 2012. First and foremost, the analysis was applied to samples of those athletes that have the potential to participate in the Olympics in 2016. During the first wave of WADA rechecked 454 tests of participants of the Olympic Games in 2008, and 31 gave a positive result.

Of the 31 positive samples belonged to 14 Russian athletes, including those who won medals at the Olympics in Beijing. 24 may “Match TV” named the Russian athletes whose samples tested positive. Doping control have not been following the winners of the Games: Denis Alexeev (bronze, 4×400 m), Ekaterina Volkova (bronze, women’s 3000 m steeplechase), Hope Evstyukhina (bronze, weightlifting), Maria Abakumova (silver, javelin), Tatyana Firova (silver, 4×400 m), Julia Chermoshanskaya (gold, running 4x100m), Anna Chicherova (bronze, high jump), Denis Nizhegorodov (bronze, walking), Anastasia Kapachinskaya (silver, 4×400 m), Maria Shainova (silver, weightlifting).

Later, the coach Hopes Evstyukhina and Maria Shahinovoy reported that a positive result is given and samples B. Also, a positive result given the sample B, Denis Alekseyev. Of doping samples taken during the Olympic games in London, during the first wave rechecked was 265. A positive result was yielded 23 samples that belong to the athletes representing six countries. The Olympic Committee of Russia reported that in the doping eight Russians suspected of participating in the Olympic games in London. The names of the athletes were not named.

During the second wave positive result was given 45 samples. Checking of samples taken during the Beijing Olympics, the IOC focused on the medalists. A positive result given the sample of 30 athletes, of whom 23 have won medals. These 30 athletes represent eight countries and serve in four sports.

From samples taken during the Olympic games in London, the positive result was given 15. We are talking about athletes, representing nine countries, and performing in two sports.

In November 2015 the international Association of athletics federations (IAAF) has deprived the Russian athletics Federation (vfla) membership, and thus all Russian athletes were suspended from participation in international tournaments. In June 2016, the IAAF upheld its decision, which meant the suspension of Russian athletes from the Olympics.

After that, OCD and 68 Russian athletes have filed a lawsuit in the court of arbitration for Sport (CAS), demanding to recognize illegal the IAAF rule, according to which participation in the competition was ousted all Russian athletes. At the end of July this CAS dismissed the lawsuit. In Rio de Janeiro the national team of Russia on track and field athletics is the only long jumper. Darya Klishina, which is recognized eligible by the IAAF.
