Russia withdrew from the three largest trading partners of the EU

Russia dropped out of the three largest trading partners of the EU. This is evidenced by published on Friday by Eurostat statistics.

According to the Agency, the volume of bilateral EU trade with Russia amounted 209,6 billion euros, which is 26% less than last year.

Thus, the trade turnover between them has fallen to values of 2009, when Russia and the EU traded with each other at 185 billion euros.

In the list of trading partners of the EU in 2015 for the first time Russia lost the third place Switzerland, the turnover of which amounted to 253 billion euros. In first place is the USA (619 billion Euro), while the second China (521 billion euros).

The EU remains the leading trading partner for Russia.

As noted by Eurostat, trade between Russia and the European Union started to decline even before the deterioration of relations and the introduction of mutual sanctions.

At the same time, according to the national Bank of Ukraine, exports of goods from Ukraine to Russia in January 2016 declined 48% to 121 million dollars, and import to Ukraine from the Russian Federation fell by 60.6%, or more than 2.5 times – up to 246 million dollars.
