One of the existing Russian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVS) will be modified for use as ammunition – he’ll get the warhead and will destroy the target, exploding himself. This was reported by TASS source in the military-industrial complex.
“A UAV that will operate on the principle of Brander, that is, explode upon reaching their goal,” – said the Agency interlocutor.
According to him, the basis of development has become one of the already existing models. “It will be cheaper and more effective to use a ready – made machine, rather than reinvent the wheel,” explained the source.
Any other details on the project, the interlocutor of Agency has not resulted. Official confirmation of this information TASS does not have.
Chief editor of the magazine “unmanned aircraft” Denis Fedutinov in conversation with the correspondent of TASS noted that the recently popular topic of loitering munitions and aircraft”kamikaze”, which combines the warhead with observation equipment. “For example, during the recent conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, the Azerbaijani side used the Israeli Harop devices working on the principle of “kamikaze”. I believe that the Russian developers also are working to establish such systems”, – said the Agency interlocutor, noting that such a device would be significantly cheaper shock drone.
Such devices can be used to destroy targets such as radar stations of air defense systems. “Reconnaissance UAV may detect the target and transmit its coordinates and means of destruction, say, aviation or artillery. However, in the case of a vehicle, equipped with weapons, it reduces the time in the cycle of “detection – a defeat that ultimately increases the efficiency of action as a whole”, – said the expert.
