The head of the Russian Ministry of industry and trade Denis Manturov on April 28 to take part in the meeting of the forum “Russia and Tanzania — to meet each other” in one of the cities of the East African country. At the moment, the Minister said, “we are consistently revamping the level of trust and unity that had been achieved also thanks to the sincere commitment of the USSR and the Russian Federation as the successor to the ideals of freedom and sovereign rights of the African peoples”. “We know that the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1990-e years have caused significant damage to Russia’s positions in Africa.”
The Minister stressed that the African vector becoming no less important place in foreign policy strategy of the Russian Federation.
After visiting Tanzania Manturov and business people will travel to another African country — Zimbabwe.
At the moment, the trade turnover between Russia and Tanzania is only $139 million, the basic position of the Russian imports are tobacco, coffee and tea.
Together with Mr Manturov will visit Tanzania staff of the KLA, “Russian Helicopters”, “Uralvagonzavod”, “Power machines” and other Russian institutions.
