Russian President Vladimir Putin replaced the head of the economic security service of FSB (SEB), one of the key divisions in the secret service. As expected, the place of the current head of Yuri Yakovlev is a head of Department of own safety of FSB Sergei Korolev. According to the media, the President decided to reshuffle after two inspections carried out in the SEB.
According to journalists of “Fontanka”, the reason for the departure Yakovlev was the release of army General to retire. At the same time, Sergei Korolev, as head of the Directorate of internal security, headed by internal audit, which took place in the service of economic security.
Information on the appointment of the Queen also confirmed two sources in the FSB in conversation with journalists of the RBC. According to them, the FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov will present the Queen of your subordinates next week. Thus a press-the Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov on Friday evening told reporters that he had not seen the decree on the appointment of the Queen.
Resignation of Yakovlev Russian media reported in early June. Thus then it was reported that he will officially retire, but the real reason for his departure is connected with the smuggling case.
Journalists wrote that the departure Yakovlev, perhaps related to the fact that he was the head of the head of management “To” SEB FSB Victor Voronin, who on 3 June wrote the official report about dismissal in connection with a criminal case of smuggling.
Voronin was responsible for control in the banking sector. However, as journalists wrote, he had to resign because of the criminal case that is related to one of his staff, the chief of the seventh Department of the “K” Vadim Uvarov. He was associated with the criminal case about the bribe to the customs officer for clearance of goods importing companies in the amount of two million rubles. Uvarov is in this case by the witness, and the accused is a former operative in the Directorate of anti-smuggling FCS Paul Smolyarchuk. The media called him brother-in-law Uvarov.
In this case, the FSB detained in St. Petersburg’s Pulkovo airport is 20 tons smartphones. The party consisted of 35 thousand iPads and iPhones, as well as 15 thousand of Lenovo smartphones А560 that is not sold in Russia.
Even then, it was reported that the new head of SEB can become the head of management of own safety of FSB Sergei Korolev. He is the initiator of the case of smuggling. Until June 10, Queens was on vacation, it was expected that after this he will go to a new place of work.
All high-profile criminal cases in recent years has been it’s own security Department. Among them – the case of the former Governor of the Sakhalin region Alexander Khoroshavin, head of the Komi Republic Vyacheslav Gaizer, the mayor of Vladivostok Igor Pushkarev, businessman Dmitry Mikhalchenko and ex-head of the main Directorate for economic security and combating corruption, Ministry of internal Affairs Denis Sugrobova.
In June, the media wrote that if the appointment of Sergei Korolev will take place, it will lead to changes in the economic security service. Korolev, most likely, will translate to a new place of work of their colleagues at URC, and the “K” will be serious personnel changes.
Officially, the structure of SEB FSB is not disclosed. As stated in the article “Novaya Gazeta”, it includes seven divisions: counter-intelligence to ensure the credit and Finance system (“K”), interior Ministry, emergencies Ministry, Ministry of justice, the Department for combating smuggling and drug trafficking, management of industrial enterprises, transport, organizational, analytical management and administrative services.
