Pushkov: the terrorist attack in nice should be sober opponents of cooperation with Russia

Пушков: теракт в Ницце должен отрезвить противников сотрудничества с РФ

The attack in nice should have a serious sobering effect on Western leaders who oppose cooperation with Russia in the fight against terrorism, the head of the Duma Committee on international Affairs Alexei Pushkov.

On Thursday evening, the truck driver rammed a crowd of people who gathered on the promenade des Anglais of nice to watch the fireworks on the occasion of Bastille Day. According to witnesses, the truck not stopping, doing jigsaws, pressured people for nearly two kilometers on the embankment, the attacker also opened fire. He was eliminated by the police. Victims of the attack were at least 84 people.

“Over the past six months in Europe there have been three major terror attack – Paris, Brussels, nice now. After each terrorist attack are made, the words of condemnation and everything remains the same as it was. The leaders of Western States are returning to their geopolitical games, back to politics, as they call it, the “containment of Russia”. And necessary to restrain Russia, it is necessary to curb international terrorism. I think the main conclusion that needs to be done,” said RIA Novosti, Pushkov.

“It’s not even last call, it’s bell ringing not only for the victims of this terrorist attack. This chimes over the heads of Western leaders, who still refuse to consider the possibility of establishing an international anti-terrorist coalition”, — he stressed.

In his opinion, the attack in nice “should have a serious sobering effect on those who are opposed to cooperation with Russia in this matter.”

“The main conclusion to be drawn from the attack in nice, from verbal condemnations of terrorism, it is time to move to concrete actions against terrorism, joint actions at the international level”, — said the head of the Duma Committee.

Pushkov reminded that Russia has on the UN General Assembly in September last year proposed to create an international anti-terrorist coalition. However, the Western partners were not, in fact, there was no reply, the MP said.

“Only Francois Hollande attempted after the terrorist attack in Paris to coordinate with Russia in a military direction in order to enhance the fight against “Islamic state” in Syria. However, unfortunately, this attempt resulted in extremely limited results. The Western allies did not support him in the end, everything is almost back to normal,” said Pushkov.
