Psychologists have described how loneliness affects the health

Психологи рассказали, как одиночество отражается на здоровье Scientists have shown that loneliness leads to heart problems.

Comparing the data of various studies, a group of researchers from the University of Jorkskogo came to the conclusion that loneliness and social isolation increase the likelihood of heart problems in people. As it turned out, lonely people often experience, including heart attacks and strokes.

The experts examined 23 previously published large-scale scientific papers on heart disease that were conducted in developed countries until may 2015. In total, the study involved more than 181 thousand people.

Statistical analysis showed that loneliness and social isolation nearly a third increased the probability of attacks of coronary heart disease and strokes, in men and in women.

Scientists say that previously, different groups of researchers have noted side effects, which are detrimental to the health of social isolation. In particular, some studies have shown that lonely people are more prone to Smoking and overeating, and as a consequence — obesity. Among the consequences of having a psychological background, can be called low self esteem and apathy. Some experts had previously recorded the Association between loneliness and high blood pressure, and weakening of the immune system.

However, some representatives of the scientific community in the course of their research they came to somewhat different conclusions, testifying in favor of the fact that, at least from a psychological point of view, not all people being alone is hard: in particular, in March this year a group of scientists from Britain and Singapore found that the higher a person’s IQ, the less he needs to communicate with friends. Shortly before this, scientists from the University of Massachusetts failed to prove that older people perceive such a thing as a loneliness calmer than young people.
