Developers a web platform for data analysis and visualization Nodegoat presented an interactive map of all battles in the history of mankind. It is reported by Gizmodo.
Source of information for Nodegoat steel records 8049 battles (2500 BC to 2015 ad), presented in the online encyclopedias Wikipedia and DBpedia. However, the program was able to localize in space and time only 2657 battles.
On the map you can not only choose a region and ask historical period. Pointing to the label battles, the user sees a window that shows the name and a link to an article about him in the online encyclopedia. In addition, the program helps to find little-known battle in exotic corners of the planet.
The picture, for all its fragmentation allows to draw some conclusions. For example, most battles in North America took place during the conquest of the continent by Europeans, the military violence in Europe is cyclical, and the most famous battles in the South-East Asia took place in the last few centuries. Many armed clashes occurred in the country’s history, were not included on the map.
