Poroshenko instructed to ensure access to the accounts of Ukrainians around the world

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced a series of steps for conducting “efficient, fast and deep process of de-offshorization”. As UNIAN reports, attempts to ban offshore company he named dead end.

The head of state said that he had instructed the Ministry of Finance, State fiscal service “to ensure Ukraine’s accession to the International Convention for the interagency provision of access to accounts of non-residents”. “I want this to happen no later than 1 January 2017”, — quotes Poroshenko “Interfax-Ukraine”.

Also, in his opinion, it is necessary to adopt a law on status of foreign controlled entities. The corresponding document, said the President, in the near future will be prepared and submitted to the Verkhovna Rada. “In addition to it should be corresponding tax rates, we must ensure the harmonization of tax legislation”, — said the President.

Poroshenko also said that the transfer of Roshen confectionery Corporation in trust Rothschild Trust was transparento with the tax interests of Ukraine. The transfer of assets, he said, was completed in late March — early April, reports TASS. He said that now “is deprived of any possibility of influence information”.

On 7 April the company Rothschild Group announced the establishment of a trust Fund that will work with the assets of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

April 4, representatives of the President reported that the presence of the offshore company does not violate the law of Ukraine. It was established as part of the process for the transfer of business as a trust Fund necessary to avoid conflict of interest. Himself Poroshenko said that does not participate in the management of their assets. This, according to him, are in the consulting and law firms.

On 3 April, the international consortium of investigative journalism (ICIJ), together with the Organization by reporting on organized crime and corruption (OCCRP) has published materials claiming the involvement of heads of state and famous people to offshore companies in Panama. In addition to Poroshenko, the list is topped by President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister of Iceland Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson.
