Poroshenko has promised to fight back with the help of American radar

Порошенко пообещал дать отпор с помощью американских радаров

The Ukrainian army will be able to “repel the aggressor” through the American counter-battery radars, handed over to Kiev. This was stated on Saturday, July 2, at the handover ceremony of the equipment at the Kiev airport “Borispol” the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.

“This is the most modern counterbattery station, whose name is already very well learned in the Ukrainian armed forces… I want to emphasize that the Ukrainians keep the powder dry. And as soon as there is a threat of attack, I do not advise anyone to check the Ukrainian troops to a period we need to bring artillery to repulse the aggressor”, — quotes the words Poroshenko “Interfax-Ukraine”.

Poroshenko also expressed confidence that the radar will serve as an additional deterrent barrier” and allow you to prove conclusively who actually violates the Minsk agreement.

The US gave free Ukraine from its stores four counter-battery radar type AN/TPQ-36 and ten of the type AN/TPQ-49, according to the website of the President of Ukraine. System AN/TPQ-36 allows to determine the position of the mortars, artillery and jet systems of volley fire of the enemy at ranges from 14.5 to 24 kilometers, AN/TPQ-49 operates at ranges up to 10 kilometers.

Earlier, the US has supplied Ukraine counter-battery radars. One of them, according to some, was lost in February 2015 during the retreat of Ukrainian troops from debaltseve.

Official Kiev regularly expresses interest in deliveries of the lethal offensive weapons from States of the West. However, NATO is limited to the supply of non-lethal weapons. Many European countries, including Germany, France, Denmark, Estonia and Italy, oppose the export of weapons to Ukraine.
