Polish President calls for the exhumation of victims of the Smolensk catastrophe

This was emphasized by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda.

“The process of exhumation can be very painful for families as it is very difficult business and we must treat this with understanding. However, there are rules of law which are binding for execution. This is a very important matter of national importance,” said Duda.

He noted that the investigation in this case leads Prosecutor’s office, whose duty it is “a very thorough collection of information and the establishment of truth”.

The Polish President recalled that earlier there were several exhumations and confirmed the substitution. “This shows how bad all this was done in Moscow,” – said the Polish leader.

He added that the mistakes made and the previous Polish government, and former Prosecutor, since a detailed study of the bodies should have done a long time ago

In June, the national prosecutors have ordered the exhumation of the bodies of all the victims of the disaster. The exhumation will apply to the 83 victims of the Smolensk catastrophe, in addition to the nine bodies, which for 2010-2015 was exhumed, and in the case of four cremated and will be held before the end of the year. Information about the plans of exhumation caused a mixed reaction in Poland, especially among the relatives of the victims. Part of the families of the victims have strongly criticized the actions of the authorities and urged to abandon plans for the exhumation, at least their relatives.
