US President Barack Obama at the summit of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation said that NATO sends a clear message about the readiness to defend every ally. This Obama said at a press conference in Warsaw after the completion of the NATO summit.

“In this time of testing, I want to take this opportunity to make clear that will never change: it’s the unwavering commitment of the United States to the security and protection of Europe, our transatlantic relationship, and of our duty towards our shared security,” he said.

“Next year we will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first American forces on European soil during the First World war”, – said the American President.

“And from that time, after two world wars, during the cold war, and decades after the fact, generations of Americans have served here for joint security,” Obama said.

“Even now, more than 60 thousand American military personnel serving in dozens of European countries, and my point is this – in good times and in bad, Europe can rely on the United States ever,” he said.

The us President said that during the NATO summit in Warsaw, the United States reaffirmed support for article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty on the execution of duties to ensure joint security.

“We are moving forward with the most significant fortifications of the collective security system since the end of the cold war,” Obama said.

According to him, it is about strengthening the position of deterrence and defence, in particular through the initiatives of European policy assurances of support, which increases the readiness of NATO forces in the region from the Baltic to the Black sea and through the deployment of advanced forces on the Eastern borders of NATO.

Obama said the U.S. will lead advanced NATO forces in Poland and will place in this country, a battalion of American soldiers; the UK will lead the efforts of the Alliance for security in Estonia, Germany, Lithuania and Canada – Latvia.

“This means that there will be placed an additional approximately 4 thousand NATO forces on a rotational basis in the region”, – said the President of the United States, and added that Europe will placed extra armed brigade from the United States, which will include 4 thousand American military.

In addition, Romania and Bulgaria have agreed on new measures to curb possible threats.

“Thus, NATO sends a clear message – we will defend every ally,” Obama said.
