Nuland about the incident in the Crimea: Ukraine remains a strategic partner of the United States

State Department spokesman Victoria Nuland said that the US does not confirm information of the FSB, in relation to the prevention of terrorist attacks Ukrainian saboteurs in the Crimea.

“We do not have data that could confirm the version of Russians about Ukrainian saboteurs. Ukraine remains a strategic partner of the US and this incident will not affect our relationship,” said Nuland.

In turn, political analyst Jay mercury suggested that perhaps the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is losing control over the Ukrainian military.

“Assuming that the Russians are telling the truth, then it follows that the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko is losing control over its own army. And perhaps already lost. Should I expect any conflict in Kiev, or new provocations on the border with Crimea,” said Mercuri.

The analyst also spoke about the possibility of war between Russia and Ukraine.

“Putin does not need another war, but Ukraine is not able to organize an offensive in the Crimea. If we talk about military conflict, possible border clashes, but to wait until deep into Ukrainian territory is not worth it. Also, now a high probability of resumption of large-scale fighting in the Donbass,” said Mercuri.
