The Alliance plans to intensify cooperation with Georgia, said the special representative of NATO Secretary General for Central Asia and South Caucasus James Appathurai arrived in Tbilisi to participate in the International conference on defense and security.
“We plan to intensify cooperation with Georgia, which implies a greater NATO presence in Georgia,” Appathurai told reporters on Tuesday.
“Now in Georgia are the joint exercises of NATO, and in the near future we intend to open a school for institutional development of the Ministry of defense of Georgia. I think that all this is a demonstration of NATO offers Georgia”, – he said.
In addition Appathurai in Tbilisi have already arrived commander of the US army in Europe Ben Hodges, the defence Ministers of the Baltic States.
“The conference will discuss issues concerning regional security, the upcoming Warsaw summit of NATO,” – said the Minister of defence of Georgia Tinatin Khidasheli.
