The Alliance noted that in Russia the cases of unplanned military exercises under the pretext of inspections of combat readiness of their troops.
In the words of NATO Deputy Secretary General Alexander Vershbow, it worsens its relations with the Alliance.
He recalled that NATO such checks are not satisfied even once since the end of the Cold war.
The permanent under Secretary noted that if Moscow is interested in stability and predictability, like a “readiness test” does not lead to this goal.
At the end of last week, 25 August, Russia announced the next such unannounced exercises on land and in the Black and Caspian seas. This has heightened concerns in the Ukraine and in the West about the possible true intentions of Moscow.
