Earlier reports about the strengthening of the Eastern flank of the Alliance had informal character.
NATO countries intend to strengthen the Eastern flank of the Alliance, including, and in connection with the aggressive policy of Russia, said the Secretary General of the organization Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with Polish radio.
The publication noted that previously such reports were of an informal nature.
According to the Secretary General, his willingness already expressed by the USA, UK and Germany.
“We decided that this will be a multinational presence of NATO forces. Some allies, namely the US, UK and Germany, have already declared their readiness to strengthen the Eastern flank,” said he.
The Secretary General noted that the final decision would be taken at the Alliance’s summit in Warsaw on 8-9 July, which informed NATO has promised to support Ukraine.
Stoltenberg also explained that the strengthening of the Eastern flank is a response to the aggressive policy of Russia.
“Strengthening the Eastern flank of NATO is a response to new challenges facing the Alliance, including, on the aggressive policy of Russia”, – he stressed.
