Bordering Russia countries want to be more confident in the presence of the Alliance.
The build-up of NATO forces on the Eastern flank of the Alliance is a direct response to Russian military action in Georgia, Ukraine and Syria. This was stated by the head of the military Committee of NATO, the Czech General Peter Paul in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“If it were not for the strengthening of the Russian attack, demonstrated in Georgia, Ukraine, the Crimea and in Syria, there would be no reaction from NATO”, – said Paul.
According to him, the NATO, especially in Eastern member countries of the Alliance, “I feel threatened by Russian arrogance and aggression”.
Paul stressed that the countries directly bordering Russia, I want to be more confident in the presence of NATO and the willingness of the Alliance to action.
Note, the NATO military Committee is the principal military authority in the Alliance and the main source of military advice to the civilian leadership of the organization.
