The Alliance began a new permanent naval operation “Sea Guardian” (Sea guard) in the Mediterranean sea.
The first round of patrols in the Mediterranean sea in the framework of the operation will have three ships and submarines of naval forces of the NATO: an Italian patrol boat ITS Aviere, Bulgarian BGS Verni, TCG Gemlik of the Turkish, Greek submarine HS Papanikolis and Spanish submarine ESPS Mistral.
In addition, support the operation of the air starting November 17, will provide a Maritime patrol aircraft from Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey.
