Hyundai Ioniq has become the fastest hybrid car in the world, built on the basis of the production model.
Racing prototype Hyundai Ioniq clocked up 157,825 miles per hour (about 254 km/h) on the famous salt lake of Bonneville in Utah.
The international automobile Federation (FIA) has officially registered a new achievement.
Engineers have substantially reworked participating in the race the car: changed the aerodynamics of the body and suspension setup, upgraded the inlet and outlet, and reprogrammed the control units in hybrid installation and gearbox, added nitrous, installed a roll cage, racing seat with shestietazhnyj belts, parachute and onboard fire extinguishing system. Also, removed the air conditioning and other auxiliary equipment.
Hyundai Ioniq is equipped with a serial hybrid powertrain, which includes a 1.6-liter gasoline engine with 105 HP, a 43.5-HP electric motor, lithium polymer batteries and a six-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches.
