22 may marks 157 anniversary of the birth of the legendary author of the adventures of Sherlock Holmes, the famous English writer Arthur Conan Doyle.
Few know that he was a member of the occult society “Golden dawn”, the British President of the College of occult Sciences and of the London spiritualist society, author of “History of spiritualism” and the book “the Phenomenon of fairies”. The writer believed in the existence of ghosts and serious attitude to spiritualistic sessions. But some researchers call it another hoax related to the name of sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Hard to believe that those who received the degree of bachelor of medicine and master of surgery doctor who even to their profession treated with a certain degree of scepticism, stories about spirits and ghosts be taken seriously. 1917 during one of his public speeches he stated that he renounces Christianity and becomes “spiritual religion.” And in 1925, he had already presided at the International spiritualist Congress in Paris and lectured on spiritualism. In 1917 two sisters from Yorkshire, 10-year-old Frances Griffith and 16-year-old Elsie Wright claimed that communicate with the fairies and in evidence provided photos. In 1982, the sisters admitted that they cut out pictures of fairies from the books and pinned with Bobby pins to Bush. For this reason, the British writer Gilbert Chesterton said, “I have long thought that intelligence sir Arthur went to more Dr. Watson than Sherlock Holmes.
Despite critical reviews, in 1925 in the article “Spiritualism and human progress” Conan Doyle wrote: “Spiritualism is undoubtedly the most important thing in the world and deserves to he took time… to understand this teaching, you need time. For me it took many years. Now for me there is nothing more important than that, because I know that here the truth.”
At 71 years old, Conan Doyle predicted the date of his death: he brought the wife into his office and said that the spirits told him that he will leave the world on July 7. After that, the writer handed his wife the envelope and asked me to print it after his death. 7 July 1930 Arthur Conan Doyle did not. And in his latest message reads: “I have defeated you, Lord unbelievers! There is no death. See you soon!”.
