The Minister of sports Vitaly Mutko was elected President of the Russian football Union (RFU). On Saturday, September 24, RIA Novosti reported.

He got 65,2% of the votes of the participants of the conference of the RFU in Moscow, former national team coach Valery Gazzaev voted 34.8 per cent of the delegates.

Initially, in the presidential elections, there were four party — Mutko, Gazzaev, President of Russian football Premier League (RFPL) Sergey Pryadkin and the President of the Football national League (FNL Igor Efremov. Pryadkin and Efremov withdrew their candidacies in favor of Mutko.
