The media found out what is the name of a new brand of electric cars, designed to compete with Tesla.

As informs the British edition Auto Express, the new sub-brand will receive the name of the MEQ. Relevant trademark has already been registered by the German manufacturer.

In addition to the brand name, Mercedes-Benz has also registered various alphabetical indexes from EQA and EQB to EQX. It is expected that these designations will be used for the names of the new models of the brand. Although why the Germans did not register the index of the EQZ is unknown.
In addition, Mercedes-Benz recorded a number of slogans that will be used to promote the new brand. Among them — the EQ inside (“inside EQ”), EQ boost (Acceleration EQ”) and Generation MEQ (MEQ Generation”).

Meanwhile, company officials declined to comment on the registration of new names. Earlier it was reported that the first line of a new brand will consist of two electric crossovers and two sedans.

The production of new electric vehicles will be manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen. There will be a crossover, powered by fuel cells, which will be based on the Mercedes GLC. A prototype of such a car can show at the auto show in Paris. The power reserve of the new crossover will be about 500 km, and its appearance will differ significantly from the other models with a three-beam star on the hood.
