Americans do not feel safe and are afraid of becoming victims of violence with a weapon, however, they also believe that legislators will not go to the tightening of laws on gun control in the coming months. This is evidenced by the results of the joint survey of the news Agency Associated Press and GfK, reports “Voice of America”.
The radio station reports that almost two thirds of respondents supported tougher laws. So, the majority of respondents favour a ban on the sale of semiautomatic assault weapons, which, for example, is rifle AR-15, and for sale shops high-capacity for 10 and more rounds. The results also correlate with party preferences of the respondents tightening of laws on gun control support 87 percent of Democrats and 41 percent Republicans, according to the radio station.
The majority of respondents supported a single national approach to legislation on weapons, preferring the mishmash of rules that are set at the level of States and municipalities. At the same time, less than half of respondents believe that lawmakers will pass laws to tighten gun control in the coming year.
