John Lennon founded the group in 1957, calling it “the Quarry Men”. Later he invited Paul McCartney that brought George Harrison. Soon Ringo Starr replaced drummer Pete best and most popular in the history became a reality.
The group has repeatedly changed the name, until he came to the final version. After the “Quarry Men”, they were alternately called “the Moondogs”, “the Rainbows”, and “British Everly Brothers”. Well, they eventually stopped.
No one can say exactly where did the name Beatles. Many fans believe that John Lennon liked the name the Crickets (the so-called group buddy Holly). Others believe that the influence of a gang of Beetles from the movie Marlon Brando “wild one”, and Lennon changed the name to Beatles to reflect the ownership of the group to the style a bit.
The first of the songs that became number one in Britain – “From Me to You” – was inspired by the title of a journal column letter “From You to Us”. The song itself was written on Board the bus during a joint concert tour with singer Helen Shapiro.
John Lennon loved cats. In the house where he lived with his first wife Cynthia, lived ten cats. His mother was so a big fan of Presley, which gave my cat the name Elvis. It is not surprising that later, Lennon said the phrase “Before Elvis there was nothing”.
The group initially wanted to give the album “Abbey Road” the name “Everest”, but when the record company suggested them to visit the Himalayas to make a cover photo, they decided to focus on the name of the street where the Studio is.
It is curious that John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote the first hit for its main competitors – the rolling stones. The song “I Wanna Be Your Man” was released in 1963, reaching # 12 on the UK charts. Later, Lennon jokingly said: “We were not going to share anything significant, isn’t it?”
John Lennon wrote the song “Good Morning Good Morning”, inspired by the television advertising of cereals.
During the week in April 1964 the Beatles occupied twelve seats in the hit parade “Billboard Hot 100” including all five first lines. For the last 52 years nobody was able to beat the record, most music experts believe that it is unlikely to be broken in the foreseeable future.
It was considered that the 1966 song “Got to Get You into My Life” written about the girl, but later in the interview McCartney said that it was dedicated to marijuana.
If you carefully listen to the iconic song “Hey Jude”, somewhere at 2:58 can you hear Paul swearing about incorrectly played chord.
Mae West initially refused the offer to place her photo on the cover of the album “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band”, but relented after receiving a personal letter from the band. On the cover is also present photos and other famous women – Marilyn Monroe and Shirley temple.
Frank Sinatra often publicly expressed his admiration for the group and even once called “Something” the best ever written love songs.
John Lennon believed that he wrote only two true songs: “Help!” and “Strawberry Fields Forever”. He admitted that only those songs he wrote based on personal experience, not introducing himself in different situations.
In March, 1966 John Lennon made the controversial statement that Christianity is in decline and the Beatles have become more popular than Jesus. This remark caused outrage in the southern United States, where Beatles records were publicly burned. The protests have spread to other countries – Mexico, Spain, and South Africa.
The group entered the “Hall of fame rock-n-roll” in 1988, and all its members separately entered there from 1994 to 2015.
The Beatles were so fascinated by the work of John. R. R. Tolkien that wanted to star in the movie “the Lord of the rings, the Director who would become Stanley Kubrick. However, Kubrick and his Studio did not find this idea attractive and several decades later, Peter Jackson gave us the opportunity to enjoy a cinematic masterpiece.
No one is sure why the band broke up. Speaking about the causes of the disorder, Paul McCartney said: “Personal friction, friction in business, friction music – but most importantly, I’m more important than spending time with my family.”
The Beatles participated in the audition at Decca Records in January 1962, but was refused, because “groups with guitars are out of fashion” and ” participants not enough talent.” Decca instead chose a group called “the Tremeloes”, which nobody remembers. Some scientists believe that some of the Beatles songs can help children with autism and other disabilities. Especially they produce the song “Here Comes the Sun”, “Octopus’s Garden”, “Yellow Submarine”, “Hello Goodbye” “Blackbird” and “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. Maybe there’s a connection with the fact that John Lennon had dyslexia, and had very poor eyesight, and in his youth even believed he had autism.
