Lithuania – a generous soul

Литва – щедрая душа

When dinner leftovers, they are usually fed to the pigs.

Former General Secretary and now NATO Advisor Petro Poroshenko, Anders Fogh Rasmussen believes that the hour is near, when Ukraine will receive from the West lethal weapon.

“Ukraine is not a member of NATO, so the Alliance has no obligations to Ukraine. However, if Russia will fulfill the Minsk agreement <…> I think the time will come for the West and for NATO to provide Ukraine with lethal defensive weapons”.

Apparently, some European States have understood too literally standard “caution” and took it as a call to action. Being a small, but vicious government of Lithuania has decided to support Ukraine and to get rid of stale her stuff, remaining from the times of the Soviet Union. And she wanted to spit on international law.

The Lithuanian army gave Ukraine 150 tons of military ammunition, mostly the shops chambered in 5.45 for the different versions of the AK-47, which remained after the transition to military to NATO standards. Moreover, Lithuania volunteered to translate them, and with good alignment to demand from Ukraine for reimbursement of transport costs. This is the first official supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine.

Before gratuitous military assistance to Ukraine came from the USA (a couple of salvaged vehicles with radar systems and SUVs Humvee in 2015, as well as other “second-hand” at a low price from a particularly enterprising).

What threatens such a desperate and Russophobic gesture of Vilnius? As a minimum, an opaque allusion to the aid of the Alliance, and as a maximum – escalation of the conflict in the Donbass, which continues despite the statements of Kiev about the ceasefire. And it is still more victims and more blood on the hands of Ukrainian junta.
