Regardless of the decision of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on participation of the Russian team in the Olympic games of 2016 all Russian sports officials should be punished, told “R-Sport” Vice-speaker of the state Duma Igor Lebedev.
The IOC Executive Board on Sunday decided not to disqualify the whole team Russia from the 2016 Games, leaving the right to determine who will be able to compete at the Olympics, international sports federations in the performance of Russian athletes of a number of criteria.
“I believe that regardless of the decision of the IOC all our sports officials should be punished. What happened, a serious blow to sport in Russia. I also believe that must be followed by serious personnel changes and tough decisions in the field of sport”, — said Lebedev.
Thursday Sports arbitration court (CAS) in Lausanne rejected the joint suit of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) and 68 Russian athletes to the International Association of athletics federations (IAAF) on a non-admission of Russian athletes to participate in international competitions. The only Russian athlete allowed to play, is a high jumper Darya Klishina training in the United States.
