Lavrov: the era of “business as usual” between Russia and the European Union are long gone

Лавров: эпоха "бизнеса как обычно" между Россией и Евросоюзом давно позади

“Business as usual” in relations of Russia with the countries of the European Union can not be, said the Minister of foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov at the meeting with Russian representatives of non-profit organizations.

According to Lavrov, Moscow is usually trying to impose arrangements, interaction schemes without taking into account Russian interests. “This era is already long gone”, — quotes the Minister RIA Novosti.

Earlier Sergey Lavrov said that Russia intends to build a business relationship with a strong European Union. The foreign Minister also pointed out that the EU sanctions “cause enormous damage to the economies of the countries of the European Union, created to destroy many years of communication between business and which contribute to stability and confidence in Europe, in fact creating new dividing lines between the countries.”

Last Friday, the Prime Minister of great Britain David Cameron said that the countries “the Big seven” have agreed on the extension of economic sanctions against Russia June. In the final Declaration of the summit “the seven” it is said that at the summit in Japan, G7 leaders voted to leave in force the sanctions against Russia.

In turn, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev instructed to prepare proposals for the extension of Russia’s retaliatory measures to Western sanctions until 2017.
