Klintsevich told about the dangers of anti-Russian sanctions for world security

Клинцевич рассказал о вреде антироссийских санкций для мировой безопасности

European politicians understand that the sanctions against Russia makes the world less safe, said the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Frants Klintsevich. Thus he commented on the resolution of the Senate of France in favour of easing of restrictive measures, said in a statement to the parliamentarian, June 9, in edition”.<url>.

According to Klintsevich, the document “very symptomatic”. “Europe is tired of anti-Russian sanctions, and it is not only in economic losses, the Senator said. Gradually comes the understanding that the world in which reigns the sanctions might not be safe”.

At the same time, he pointed to the contradictions in European policy towards Russia. “It seems that officials and parliamentarians of the EU living in parallel worlds: if some saber-rattling, scaring the population of the non-existent Russian threat, others in their bulk in favor of developing mutually beneficial ties with our country,” — said Klintsevich. Thus, according to him, “it is parliamentarians, but not the officials represent the people and have every right to speak on his behalf”.

On Wednesday in Paris, the Senate (upper house of Parliament) approved a resolution in favour of easing of restrictive measures against Russia. The document calls for the French government to demand from the leadership of the European Union the gradual relief of the sanctions regime.

On 28 April, the lower house of the French Parliament — the National Assembly — supported another resolution calling on the government to advocate for the complete abolition of sanctions against Russia.
