U.S. Secretary of state John Kerry on Wednesday arrived in Moscow for a two-day visit and has already managed to make some loud statements.

“Such mighty power as we could to cooperate, despite differences on a number of issues. We can when the need arises, to do everything possible to cope with these challenges” — quoted Kerry TASS.

Recall that exactly two years ago, U.S. President Barack Obama called Russia a weak regional power, and this statement has been widely replicated in the media both in America and abroad. “Russia is a regional power, and not because of the strength, but its weakness is a threat to some of their neighbors,” said Obama. The statement was made amid the growing Ukrainian crisis.

Now, according to the Secretary of state, in Washington believe that Russia has made progress on many difficult issues, and can do for the world more.

“Many hope that this meeting and others held in recent times, would open the way for further progress on many important issues. In particular, the conflict in Syria to end as soon as possible, need to find ways to cooperate on other important issues, challenges faced by Yemen, and Libya,” said the American diplomat.

Kerry expressed hope that his current visit to Moscow will be productive.

“I think we can say that during each of my visit to Russia, our discussions allowed us to find some approaches to move forward. Maybe not always as we would like, but nevertheless, on the many complex issues we could make progress”, he concluded.

It is known that John Kerry is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss a wide range of issues of international politics.
