Innovative school Golden Bridges School is located on a plot of land at cotter street, 203 in the heart of mission terrace in San Francisco. Learning in school is based on progressive Waldorf method. The school teaches children the skills of farming and cooking and at the same time instilling them with moral and social values.
Currently, Golden Bridges school School 55 children. The school has not yet its own building, students waiting out the rain in tents.
70% of the land will occupy the gardens and beds. The remaining 30% is planned to construct the building, which will contain classrooms and other rooms.
Unlike regular campuses of educational institutions, the school building Golden Bridges School will be fully integrated into the landscape with maximum preservation of adjacent green spaces.
Diagonal front facade and roof of the building are planted plants, thus masking the educational building under a natural hill.
In the interior of the educational building will be used by the tree in accordance with the principles of Waldorf pedagogy, which encourages the use of the warm textured natural materials.
The light will penetrate the audience via emerging on the South side of the window, thus, the demand for electricity will be minimized.
Through the building will take place “Golden bridge”, connecting the classrooms and other rooms.
Playground at the entrance to the school will serve as temporary Parking in weekdays and on weekends, the venue of the farmers ‘ fairs and public events. The permeable surface of the pad will allow you to collect rain water for watering tanks, located underground.
Innovation project campus school Golden Bridges School was represented by architect Stanley Saitowitz of Natoma Architects company. Construction of schools is scheduled for February 2017. In September 2017 the school will take on the training of 80 students.
