Doctors have found a new way of treating cancer without chemotherapy.
Experts from the University of Southampton (UK) conducted a study of the methods of treatment of cancer of the lymphatic system.
Specialists have tested the influence of the so-called positron emission tomography (PET), which can help to avoid the adverse effects of chemotherapy for cancer patients.
The essence of this type of tomography is to use a small amount of Tordesillas (FDG), or simply a special radioactive glucose. The study was conducted on 1200 patients suffering from Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which were divided into two groups.
One of them took the drug bleomycin, which is used in chemotherapy, the second was without it. The results of the experiment showed that the presence of the drugs bleomycin does not affect patient survival. This is important, as patients do not receive harmful side effects of this drug.
