5 August in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro held the opening ceremony of the XXXI Olympic games. The Moscow Olympics was the first Olympics held in Eastern Europe. In addition, it was also the first Olympics in a socialist country.

Some wanted to receive them, others hated. Moscow even went a saying: “whoever wears an “Adidas”, tomorrow will sell the Motherland”. Some interesting facts about the game: the youngest competitor was 13-year-old Angolan swimmer Jorge Lima, who in all his swims are ranked last. As the oldest participant of the Olympic games was a 70-year-old Bulgarian captain Krassimir Krastev. It is noteworthy that for the youngest and the oldest athlete of the games in Moscow were the first and only career.
The undisputed leader of both the total number of awards and the number of gold medals was the Soviet Union. Athletes from the Soviet Union brought to his Home of 195 medals, 80 of which were gold.
