Turkey’s ruling Party justice and development party (AKP) has completed work on the draft of the new Constitution and reform the state structure.
It involves the transformation of a parliamentary Republic in the state with a presidential form of government.
This was announced by the Prime Minister and the AKP leader Binali Yildirim after a two-day meeting of the party leadership.
”Work on the new Constitution and a presidential form (of the Board) is completed. In the near future, the relevant legislative initiative will be sent to the Parliament,” he said.
”Do not be afraid of the people, it will solve this issue. It’s time to end the debate about the system of governance in Turkey,” said yıldırım.
Turkish officials previously announced that the referendum on a new Constitution could be held in the spring of 2017.
