In the US learned to weave artificial muscles

В США научились плести искусственные мышцы

Scientists from the University of Texas at Dallas has opened a technology which in the future will be “tied” artificial muscles.

Weaving animal hair and plant fibers is rooted in the history of mankind. Scientists have added to this concept the scientific achievements of the 21st century, and then managed to create fibers that respond to temperature and properties resemble human muscle, reports Science Daily.

According to scientists, the artificial muscles can be made any size, giving them different properties, therefore, the scope of development begins with the production of prostheses and robotics, and ends with making smart textiles that will change the shape, size and ability to pass air depending on the temperature.

In the process of knitting a role not so much material as developed by scientists of the technology. Molecules are arranged along the thread so that increases in diameter, it practically does not change its length. Among the materials which can be used for weaving can be as exotic carbon nanotubes and conventional polymer filament.

Studies have shown that the muscles, woven in a similar way from a cheap fishing lines, have a hundred times higher mechanical power than human.

Scientists have managed to grow artificial liver and lung tissue. Together with artificial leather developed by the Japanese, and “braided” muscles humanity has become closer to fantastic humanoid robots medicine to a new level.
