Lonnie Franklin was convicted of the rape and murder of 10 black women.
A jury in Los Angeles has sentenced a former dustman Lonnie Franklin to death for the murder of at least ten women.
The sentence must be approved by the court before it takes effect.
Franklin was convicted of a series of murders, who for 20 years was attributed to unidentified criminal, nicknamed “the Grim sleeper”. Franklin was convicted of killing seven women and 15-year-old girl in 1985-88 and in the murder of two other women in 2005 and 2007.
Franklin was arrested in 2010 after police linked the DNA left on the bodies of the victims, with the genetic material of his son, arrested for other offences.
