In the American zoo shot and killed a gorilla to save the life of a child.
Gorilla hardly going to attack the boy, but the animal’s behavior was impossible to predict.
In the American city of Cincinnati, the zoo staff shot the gorilla in the cage to which the child fell. This was stated by zoo Director Thane Maynard at the press conference.
On may 28, a four year old boy climbed into the enclosure of the animal. 17-year-old gorilla weighing about 180 kg grabbed the child and 10 minutes were carried through the territory of their habitat. After that, the zoo staff made the decision to shoot the gorilla, to save the boy.
As explained by Maynard, the experts decided not to use a soporific substance, because it acts slowly. He added that the gorilla hardly going to attack the child, but the animal’s behavior is impossible to predict.
The child was taken to children’s hospital in Cincinnati with is not dangerous to life injuries.
