The Bank of Russia and Goznak discuss how to commemorative banknote for the 2018 world Cup was plastic or from a mixture of paper and plastic.
Work on the design of a commemorative banknotes to the 2018 FIFA world Cup is close to the final stage. At the moment there are at least six design options. Debate on that bill can be printed not only on paper but non-traditional for Russian material. By the end of the year, all design decisions and technology should be taken below in mid-2017 Goznak could start to print the commemorative banknote to the world Cup. Commemorative banknote of 100 rubles for the 2018 world Cup will be the third in a series of such bills. The first was the bill for the Olympic games in Sochi in 2014, the second 100 in honor of the annexation of Crimea, which was released in 2015. That perpetuate the 2018 world Cup, the Central Bank plans to money bill, became known in the end of last year. However, no details of that moment was not.

— If planning the announcement of the banknote up to 100 days prior to the event, it is spring of 2018. Accordingly, we need to begin to print it in the middle of 2017. And by the end of this year, we must fully define the design, technological solutions, material. And begin already to printed project, — said the General Director of Goznak.
He said that, particularly now with the Bank of Russia considers the use of banknotes for unusual material, stressing that it is too early to talk about the fact that this option was chosen because “should be a holistic concept”.
— The possibility that it may not be paper, is considered, — said Arkady Trachuk, adding that options for non-traditional types of materials (substrates, as professionals say) not so much. In particular, this can be plastic or mixed material.
For example, as said Arkady Trachuk, some countries have banknotes, which are made of combinations of paper and plastic. Now carefully studied the experience of different countries, but, as noted Arkady Trachuk, for cash conventional cash number the use of unconventional materials is not planned, because the company believes it to be inappropriate.
Another thing — commemorative banknote.
— This should be a bill, which will differ from the usual cash number. We always strive to ensure that the commemorative banknote and design and technological solution, and a set of security features was markedly different from the current cash of the series. And we will try this tradition is continued, so that the new banknote was unusual. And now we understand that it will take place, — says the head of Goznak.
As he promises, will be applied to interesting design solutions, inclusive of everyone who holds the bill in his hands, for the big event.
We strive to show the bill and the history of football, and its modern day. To show the involvement of the whole country to the world championship, — said Arkady Trachuk.
He also said that now the artists of Goznak in contact with colleagues from the Bank of Russia continued to work on the design using the results of the creative contest that the company held with the participation of 10 schools from the cities which will host world Cup matches and who have expressed a desire to participate in a creative competition (Saint – Petersburg, Samara, Saransk, Sochi, Volgograd, Rostov-on-don, Kaliningrad, Yekaterinburg). Although the first place that would have guaranteed that the idea of the design will be used on the note in full, was not awarded, the design elements proposed by the students, today, taken into account in the work of professionals. At the moment, is considered at least six options.
The artists of Goznak and the Bank of Russia are working based on the results of the competition. We try to all cities where world Cup will be held, there was a place on a commemorative banknote. But, of course, to play on one bill, all 11 stadiums can’t. It is impossible, — said Arkady Trachuk.
He also said that the previously discussed circulation of 20 million copies of banknotes. But the final decision yet.
But the color remains a mystery. The head of Goznak noticed only that it will be a warm shade of pastel.
