In Rio de Janeiro today opened the Olympic village. The complex consisting of 31 buildings that will accommodate approximately 18 thousand athletes. The number of staff is 13 thousand people.
In the Olympic village is a large dining area can accommodate up to 5 thousand people, equipped with the most modern equipment sports hall, a clinic, a relaxation area, beauty salon, multi-faith centre and seven laundries, reports Deutsche Welle.
The village is situated on the West of the Brazilian metropolis, a mile from the Olympic Park, which will host most of the competition. According to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), in the village there is the so-called “place of mourning”, which will host a special ceremony in memory of people killed during the Olympic games.
